Guanosintriphosphat (GTP) ist ein Nukleotid, das insbesondere im anabolen Stoffwechsel als Energiespeicher dient. Es besteht aus einem Guaninrest, der an das Monosaccharid Ribose gebunden ist, die ihrerseits eine Triphosphat-Gruppe trägt, die als Energiespeicher dient. Die gespeicherte Energie wird freigesetzt, indem das Triphosphat hydrolytisch zum Guanosindiphosphat (GDP) bzw. weiter zum Guanosinmonophosphat (GMP) gespalten wird. Cyclisches Guanosinmonophosphat (cGMP) ist ein für die Signaltransduktion wichtiger Botenstoff.
